More from the Summit

It really is overwhelming.

For the past week now, our team has been here in Ggaba on the shore of Lake Victoria at ARM's Renewal Summit 2017.  We have met people from all over Africa and I have talked with people that seem to come right from the headlines of the news.  Yesterday in one of the general conference sessions, we heard a speaker, Laban Jjumba from here in Uganda, speaking about prayer and the kingdom of God.  At the end of the service the representatives from South Sudan and Nigeria were asked to come to the front of the auditorium for special prayer.  South Sudan for the horrible civil war and Nigeria for the terror being inflicted by Boko Haram.  In that moment, the 600+ representatives from 15 different countries joined together in prayer to OUR Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of the countries these men and women represented.

Please join the body of Christ in prayer for the people affected by these horrific events, but more than focusing on the bad, pray that the Holy Spirit empower these people to go back to their countries and be agents of transformation.

Thinking back to Ken speaking, it is still an amazing thought that little Canby Christian Church is involved with our Pastor speaking to this body.  As I told you in the last post, Ken did a tremendous job of telling the group the story of how CCC had gotten connected with ARM, developed a partnership and how we have worked in Kacungwa to truly transform that small village in Central Uganda.  It really is overwhelming.

So, a few more stories from people I have known and people I have just met and I must get started for the last day of the summit:

Pastor William Mugabi (right) joined by Pastor Sylver Turinawe (Kacungwa) and Sean Thome', is the project director at ARM's Kyengeza CDP in Mubende.  William is a self-professed "comedian" and is the man who was the initial school headmaster at Grace Christian School in Kacungwa.  He is a very close friend with Pastor Sylver and is a friend of Kacungwa.

I first met Pastor Emmanuel in 2012 while doing food distribution in one of the slums of Kampala.  Ps Emma was serving the church to reach the lost in the slums and to show the love of Christ by meeting the needs of those near him living in the slum.  When I met Ps Emma, he had just lost his business to a fire and had no means of supporting his family.  Since that time, Ps Emma has served in multiple different churches, all in slum areas of Kampala.  Most recently, the church he was pastoring was destroyed in a flood.  He is currently praying for a new church to serve in.

Many of you remember Michael Kirungi, fomerly with ARM and now owns a tour and ministry company MIFIK Safaris.  Michael is the twin brother of Apollo Kaggwa - each says that they are the "handsome one". Michael is currently serving with this pastor (I'm sorry, but I forgot his name) to minister to those living in the Kosovo slum of Kampala - the worst of the worst.  Michael has invited me to meet with him and visit that area next week and I pray God will empower Michael to meet the needs of the people there.

Two of my young friends, Kyaligonza Patrick and Nkalubo Billy Brian at the Renewal Summit 2017.  I met Patrick in 2017 in Luzira where he translated for me at the children's Sunday School.  I shared Patrick's story in our 2012 blog.  He was married in the past year and he and his wife are expecting their first baby next month.  Our team was blessed to meet Billy Brian in 2015 in Kacungwa where he served for many of us as a translator, but more than that lead worship at the Canby Cup in front of thousands.  Billy Brian is attending university looking forward to graduating.  I also was able to share Billy Brian's testimony in our 2015 blog.

Today is the final day of the Renewal Summit - the message on the shirt below says it all!
Be blessed.
